The DAMAI Path

 

Dynamic Archery Martial Arts International (DAMAI) provides a structured pathway for developing Dynamic Archery ability through performance, examination, and advancement.

 

Rooted in the demands of historical martial archery, the system emphasizes the ability to deliver accurate arrows under time pressure while developing speed, accuracy, rhythm, awareness, composure, and adaptability.

 

The DAMAI Path consists of four stages:

 

Trials → Qualification → Examination → Advancement

Trials

 

Archers develop and demonstrate ability through Dynamic Archery Speed Trials (DASTs).

 

DASTs may be conducted as either Unverified Trials or Verified Trials. Unverified Trials allow archers to participate, track progress, and establish Personal Bests, while Verified Trials provide independently witnessed results. DASTs completed during official Warriors Cup competitions are also considered Verified Trials, and feed into an additional annual ranking tracking the Warriors Cup results only.

 

Through ongoing participation in DASTs, archers build a record of demonstrated performance within the Global DAST Ranking.

Qualification

 

As DAST results accumulate, Personal Bests and Composite Scores are generated within the Global DAST Ranking.

When an archer achieves the required qualification standards for a particular grade, they become eligible to apply for a DAMAI Grading Examination.

​

Qualification does not award a grade. It grants the opportunity to attempt the examination.

​

Examination

 

The Grading Examination is the only means by which a DAMAI Grade may be earned.

​

All examinations are conducted in the presence of an authorized official.

​

The examination combines all five official distances and multiple shooting orientations into a single structured assessment designed to evaluate complete Dynamic Archery capability.

​

Successful performance demonstrates that the archer can reproduce the required standard under formal examination conditions.

Advancement

 

Upon successful completion of the examination, the archer advances within the DAMAI Grading System.

​

Each grade represents a measurable level of demonstrated Dynamic Archery ability and marks a milestone along the path of continued development.

The path is open to all. Advancement is earned through demonstrated performance and confirmed through examination.
