Become a DAMAI Instructor

Teach the Art. Build a Community. Shape the Future.

Dynamic Archery Martial Arts International (DAMAI) is building an international community of instructors dedicated to bringing the ancient skills and modern practice of dynamic archery to people around the world.

Great martial arts traditions grow through great teachers—people who combine knowledge, enthusiasm, integrity, and a genuine desire to help others develop.

DAMAI offers an opportunity to become part of a new international martial arts framework, with a structured teaching system, recognized student progression, international competition, and a philosophy that reaches beyond athletic performance.

Whether you are an experienced archery instructor, a martial artist, a horseback archer, or someone inspired to build a new community, we invite you to explore becoming a DAMAI Instructor.

Your School. Your Students. Your Success.

DAMAI is designed to support independent instructors, not control their businesses.

Certified instructors may establish their own schools, develop their own teaching schedules, determine their class fees, and build communities suited to their local circumstances.

Instructors retain 100% of their ordinary teaching revenue.

DAMAI provides the common standards, teaching framework, grading system, international rankings, and competition opportunities that connect independent schools into a worldwide martial arts community.

Our goal is to help instructors succeed while maintaining the quality and integrity of the DAMAI system.

The Instructor Pathway

The pathway to becoming a certified DAMAI Instructor is straightforward:

Achieve Student Level 3 → Take Instructor Training → Pass Instructor Examination → Certification

Candidates first develop the foundational skills and understanding required to achieve at minimum DAMAI Student Level 3.

Instructor training then prepares candidates to teach the DAMAI system safely, effectively, and confidently.

Instructor Training includes:

  • DAMAI philosophy, principles, and teaching methodology

  • Safe range management and equipment practices

  • Shooting form and technical development

  • Teaching DAPT, DAST, and DART

  • Student development and progression

  • Administration of official trials and competition activities

  • Preparing students for and conducting grading examinations

  • Establishing and developing a successful local school

Successful candidates become certified DAMAI Instructors, authorized to teach and represent the DAMAI system in accordance with its standards.

Support for Instructors

DAMAI is committed to helping instructors build successful and sustainable teaching communities.

Our developing instructor support system includes:

  • Educational Resources

  • Structured curriculum, teaching guidance, training exercises, and student progression resources.

  • International Recognition

  • Participation in a growing network of DAMAI instructors and schools, connected through shared standards, grading, rankings, and competition.

  • Equipment Opportunities

  • Access to DAMAI-recommended equipment and opportunities to help students source the best and most appropriate equipment.

  • Business Management Support

  • Guidance on class structure and curriculum, class promotion, finding and retaining students, pricing, and school development.

  • Continuing Education

  • Opportunities for advanced training, instructor intensives, professional development, and collaboration with other instructors.

An Independent Business with International Connections

DAMAI instructors are independent educators and business operators.

Some may introduce DAMAI within established archery clubs, horseback archery schools, or martial arts organizations.

Others may choose to establish dedicated DAMAI schools, using for-profit or not-for-profit business models; diverse approaches work.

DAMAI provides a proven curriculum and grading framework for teaching and advancement while respecting the instructor's independence, experience, and individual approach to education.

Instructors may also participate in equipment distribution opportunities, host events, and introduce students to international competitions and training experiences.

Instructor Training and Licensing

The DAMAI Instructor Training and Assessment program is offered at $300 CAD.

Upon successful completion, instructors receive their initial certification and first-year instructor licence without an additional annual licence fee.

The proposed ongoing annual instructor licence is $300 CAD, with benefits including students' DAMAI membership coverage and three Warriors Cup competition registrations annually. In some circumstances, instructors may apply to be excused from this fee.

Instructors retain their teaching income and may participate in optional equipment supply opportunities.

Detailed terms, responsibilities, and available support are provided during the application process.

Help Build Something Extraordinary

DAMAI is in its founding stages, and those who express interest today have a unique opportunity to become part of its earliest international community of instructors. Early involvement offers the chance not only to establish a school, but to contribute ideas, help shape the emerging tradition, and grow alongside a martial art with worldwide ambitions.

We are seeking individuals who value sound technique, personal development, responsible leadership, and the transformative possibilities of disciplined practice.
